The box cutter, also known as a utility knife, had fallen from another guest's pocket who was riding a roller coaster above the common area where the girl was standing at Dutch Wonderland, 2249 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, according to East Lampeter Township police.
The roller coaster was reportedly the Sky Princess according to Redditors, but the police declined to identify which coaster the guest was riding.
Officers were called to the park for a "guest had been struck in the head by a falling object" at 5:37 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.12, according to the release issued on Tuesday.
The girl had already left the amusement park with her family prior to the police's arrival. Police later learned that she sought medical care at a local urgent care facility and were informed she suffered a "minor head injury" but would not require additional care.
"The blade of the box cutter was not open at the time and the knife was not being used nor displayed," the police noted in the release.
The girl's family is not local and will not be identified.
"The incident is being considered accidental in nature and no criminal investigation is forthcoming," the police said.
Dutch Wonderland has a weapons policy that prohibits cutting instruments including knives, letter openers, box cutters, arrowheads, and sharp jewelry.
